What is Craft The World?

You control a tribe of dwarves by giving them commands to dig in certain places, attack enemy creatures, and build houses and other structures. You'll need to provide your dwarves food and clothing, as well as help them with magic when fighting against other inhabitants of the world. You start the game with one dwarf and gain additional dwarves as your experience level increases.

Each game level has many layers of earth to explore, from the sky down to boiling subterranean lava. The level is randomly generated as an island, restricted by natural boundaries: oceans on the edges, lava beneath it, and the sky above. Other features include day and night and changing weather conditions. The worlds differ in size, humidity, temperature, terrain, and flora and fauna. Abandoned halls and rooms with treasure are hidden somewhere deep within the islands.

One feature of the game is a user-friendly system of recipes for crafting. The recipes are organized and easily accessible. You can craft dozens of different items: building blocks for houses, furniture, decorations, weapons, armor, ammunition, and food for your dwarves.

At the outset you find the recipes for basic tools and items, and build a small house with places to sleep and eat. Then, the size of the tribe increases and catches the attention of other inhabitants of the world. Most of them are night creatures and dwell underground. The worlds are full of fantasy creatures like zombies, skeletons, goblins, beholders, ghosts, giant spiders, and others. Some of them pay little attention to the dwarves, as long as the dwarves do not come into their field of vision. Others gather into quite large groups and try to break into the dwarves’ residence.

Especially dangerous are the waves of monsters that appear from time to time from portals. So, do not neglect to build a safe haven with strong walls and numerous trapdoors, cells, firing towers, and secret passageways.

As a divine being, you possess various spells. You can speed up the movement of the dwarves, open small portals, illuminate dark caves to scare away monsters, evoke natural magic in the form of rain or tree growth, hurl fireballs at the monsters’ heads, and find useful resources and hidden rooms under-ground, thereby helping to speed up resource extraction, exploration of the world, and the population growth of your assistants.

Getting started

Where am I?

Welcome! Your world has several layers made up of blocks, each of them different, and you can set everything up however you like. This world is inhabited by many plants and creatures, some of them dangerous. Try to gather some resources and build a shelter. Watch out for the ocean and boiling lava. Try not to go off on your own after dark or get lost in the labyrinth of subterranean caves. And then, one fine day this world will become a comfortable home for you. Good luck!

Who is under my command?

You have control over a tribe of dwarves. You must give them orders, which they will carry out on their own: digging in certain places, cutting down trees, attacking enemies, building a house, and so forth. Look after their health, make sure they have enough to eat, and improve their tools and weapons. The population will increase as the player reaches higher levels.

How to gather resources

Mark any block for mining and other resource-collection. A free dwarf will go there on his own and start mining/chopping. As resources are extracted from the designated blocks, the dwarves will haul them to a stockpile, after which they will be listed in the player`s inventory. Some resources, such as water, can be collected only if the appropriate tool is available. For water, this means a bucket.

How to help the dwarves find their way

The dwarves can clamber on the trees and vertical blocks in the background. With ladders, they can move faster and won`t accidentally fall. If your dwarves cannot make it to the stockpile, you can dig a new passageway, build stairs with your available blocks, or use the Portal Spell.

How to make objects

While assembling resources, the player will find instructions for various objects he can make. To make an object, open the inventory dialog box and click on the object you want. If instructions are available for it, icons for the needed raw materials and components will appear on the crafting table. Drag the materials you need onto the table and click on the manufacture button as many times as the number of copies of the object you want to produce. Manufacturing some complicated objects requires special equipment or facilities, such as a smithy.

How to build something

In order to build a house or other building, open the inventory dialog box and drag the components (walls, staircase, windows) to the fast cells below. Then close the inventory dialog box, select one of the cells containing building components, and move them to the correct locations. If the dwarves are unable to reach the location of a block, it will be marked as inaccessible.

 Where should the dwarves live?

Dwarves can restore their health only by getting rest inside a house. The house needs to have walls on all sides, as well as a hatch or door for the entrance. Place a totem pole inside the house to scare away evil spirits. Install a bed for each dwarf. The stronger the walls and more comfortable the interior, the more rapidly the dwarves will regain their strength. Set up one or more tables and periodically place food on them, so that the dwarves can eat.

How to defend against monsters

The best defense is a shelter with strong walls to protect your main stockpile. Most monsters take aim at the stockpile, hoping to steal some of your resources. As you build the fortress, replace the walls with stronger ones and install metal doors. Various obstacles can be set up on the approaches to the house: traps, pits and magic shooting towers. Make stronger armor for the dwarves and give them various weapons for close combat and fighting at a distance.

How to use magic

Gradually you will discover scrolls with various spells, which require magic energy in order for you to use them. This energy builds up over time and can be enhanced with elixirs. To cast a spell, drag its icon from one of the fast cells and drop it where you need it in the level.

Advanced construction

Use scaffolding, which the player may set up or dismantle at his own initiative and in any place to help the dwarves construct tall edifices.

You can change the design of side walls made of stone, wood, or another material, for example to change a straight wall to a curved one. To do this, select the same kind of wall in a fast cell and click the segment of building wall you want to change.

Floor and side wall blocks can be replaced with a different building material without being dismantled. To do this, select a block of the new material in a fast cell and click one of the floor blocks you want to replace.

Advanced resource acquisition

Use mechanisms to speed up the dwarves` movements as they carry resources from the mines to the stockpile: elevators for vertical movement and minecars for horizontal movement.

Improving your spells will enable you to blow up entire tracts of resource deposits and move the mined resources directly to your stockpile by magic.

As you explore your world, build several more stockpiles so that the dwarves don`t have as far to carry the resources and objects.

What next...

Explore the subterranean world, discover as many instructions for objects as possible, build mighty fortresses against attacks by monsters, and find your way to new worlds of an entirely new kind.
